Update- June 2015
I have never been happy with how this truned out. It isn’t very wearable. Seeing as I need to learn how to steek for a sweater pattern, I’ve decided to practice on it. Just need to get up the courage!

(rewind) January 2015
This was my first try knitting fair isle. For a very long time knitting with two hands and two yarns at the same time intimidated me. It was easy! The book Fair Isle Style has a nice tutorial/reference section for beginners.

I didn’t like the way the pattern hung loose and seeing the WS so I cast on 168 (I think) aiming for a neck-hugging version. Also because of neck-length, I didn’t do all the peerie patterns. Had I been thinking ahead I would have switched them up so that they didn’t go in progressive order 5-row, 7-row, 9-row. I also skipped the garter stitch knit-every-row-in-the-round technique using two strands of MC and just purled.

Also- I think to get the light-airy effect you need the recommended (or similar) yarn. I had Knit Picks on hand and I could tell early on I was getting something much more substantial out of it. So, I didn’t change needle sizes which worked fine with the sturdier yarn.

All-in-all a very good introduction to fair isle techniques.
