Notes

First off, this pattern is one of my favorites because the mittens are lined and are very, very warm and so, very useful. It’s very easy to alter this pattern to meet your own needs/wants - to my way of thinking, the pattern is just a suggestion.

For this pair, I’ve eliminated the all-over textured purl rows and, instead, added stashed Miss Babs colors (to coordinate with ‘On the Spice Market Scarf’; see background of my second photo). A slipped stitch breaks up the color banding and provides an element similar to the scarf. I like the rustic look of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter and that’s why I selected it for the dominant yarn - the mitten lining is double strand Brooklyn Tweed Loft (Note: the section of the lining that includes the thumb gusset and then also the thumb is in single strand Brooklyn Tweed Loft so that the mitten still allows good movement of the hand.)
