In love with the color of this yarn and the squish. This is worsted and pattern calls for DK.SO VERY GUILTY of not fiddling with a gauge swatch. Just winging it. I’m good with an oversized cardigan if that’s what happens, we’ll see. May need more yarn.
Final stitch count before separating for sleeves:
25 front sts per side
52 sleeve sts
78 back sts
CO 4 sts under each arm for a total of 56 sts for each arm.
Added 8 rows (approx. 1.25”) of plain stockinette before starting charts.
• Like others, I skipped the YO’s that were right against the front seam.
09.02.19 Finished! Love it. Need to update these notes re: modifications (sleeve decreases and short row collar).
Notes on changes:
Ended up with 57 sts for each sleeve.
Knitted 35 rounds and then started decreases and did so every 13 rows. Realized toward the cuff I should’ve decreased more because sleeve was a little big. I think I crammed in approx. 2 more decreases right before the cuff. Started the rib for the cuffs with 42 sts (switched to size 6 needles).
Used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off for the sleeves.
Picked up 280 stitches for the collar. I love the collar on my comfort fade cardi so I followed the same technique (short rows) to create the same look here.
collar:
setup row: Sl 1 wyif, knit to end. x2
Short Row 1 (RS): Sl 1 wyif, knit 156 sts, W&T.
Short Row 2 (WS): K32 stitches, W&T.
Short Row 3: Knit to previous W&T, knit the wrapped stitch, K1, W&T.
Repeat Short Row 3: 7 more times.
Short Row 11 (RS): Knit to end.
Short Row 12 (WS): Sl 1 wyif, knit to end.
Work even for 6 more rows as Sl 1 wyif, knit to end. (slip one at beginning of each row).
REPEAT THE ABOVE 3 MORE TIMES PLUGGING IN THE FOLLOWING NUMBERS FOR ROWS 1&2:
2ND SECTION OF SHORT ROWS:
K168
K56 or 62 (notes are too cryptic and I don’t remember)
3RD SECTION OF SHORT ROWS:
K184
K88
4TH SECTION OF SHORT ROWS:
K196
K112
LAST TWO ROWS BEFORE BIND OFF:
knit to end.
Sl wyif, knit to end.
Used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off for the collar too.
