Notes
  • Video Tutorial

  • Used the 3 needle bind-off to join the two tail sections. Knit each tail section with the same number of rows. (41) This gives you the correct stitch count when you pick up the stitches for the chicken body.

  • Added some mosaic knitting for interest.

  • Added two extra rows to the neck.

  • Used Crayola Dandelion for the beak with Size 6 DPNs.

  • For the beak after there were 5 stitches I purled back and then K 1, slip one, K2 tog, PSSO, K 1; pull through the 3 remaining stitches and then did the seaming.

  • Double Wattle (knit the wattle per pattern and before ending it did a few plain rows and then knit the pattern in reverse.)

  • Block all the pieces after knitting and before any sewing.

  • Created an inner “beanbag” with nylon sock and Poly-Fil Poly-Pellets Enclose this with lots of regular Poly-fil Fiber Fill stuffing.

  • One 2 pound (32 oz) bag of the Poly-fil stuffing seems to be enough for 3 chickens with the large bean bag of Poly-Pellets also taking up lots of room!

  • Helpful Seaming Video

  • Source for Safety Eyes

  • Decided to set a goal of 24 Emotional Support Chickens in 2024. (24in24) This is ESC #29

  • For donation to the Annual Fund Raising Raffle for St. James Church Ministry of Consolation for Community Outreach Efforts (Food Pantry, etc.) to be held October 2024.
