20th June - Just so you know, I could get this finished for the 22nd.

18th June - Finished the squares today, all put together, just running the vertical lines now. They are taking an age

15th June. Its about 60% crocheted together, about 300 grey squares required. Really going to go for it this weekend! REALLY REALLY SICK OF GREY SQUARES!
still 15th June, 1:30am (so technically 16th June) I think I did nearly 100 squares today. I watched 4 films! 7 rows to go I think. Exciting! And I think my deadline has moved again too.

(Just noticed its 11th June HAHA!) Currently making grey squares and crocheting lines together. It looks awesome! The plan is to edge it in a round of black then grey then black, then wash it (if it EVER stops raining) and then it will be the most awesomest finished project ever! And I might keep it!

I am making this because I am crazy, obviously. It goes pretty quick when I put my mind to it but at 460 grey squares left I am getting a bit bored.
I would like it finished around 22nd June but we will see!

Using Hayfield & Sirdar Bonus DK mostly, each square is 2in. I have made a spreadsheet to make it a bit easier.

It is 26 x 38 squares (988 of them), so 52 x 76in (6ft 4 x 4ft 4) before the border, which I think will be a couple of rounds of black.

Crocheting it together with black using (I think) single crochet. The ridge is on the back. It is coming together very quickly although I imagine it will slow down considerably when I have to make 316 squares in each of two shades of grey!

In all I have bought 20 balls of yarn and begged, borrowed and found the rest. A bit of planning could have made it slightly cheaper, as Bonus Toytime comes in smaller, cheaper balls, but overall it has cost about £36.

Totally worth it!
