A lovely little bonnet for my little girl. I love how it makes me think of Holly Hobby. I used a larger needle, added some rows to the sides, and made a circular back like some of the other projects I’ve seen. After it’s all said and done though, I ended up making it too big. I love how deep it is, but the back ended up being so big that the hat can fit on my 7 yr old son’s head.
If I should ever make you his again, I shall start with the round back piece. Then I can knit the pin curl right on to the active loops and proceed directly to knitting the side. I wouldn’t have to break the yarn and it would be all one piece. I can block it on an oatmeal container.
12-22: Had to pause in making this so I could make some wool mittens for my eldest child. I’m almost done though. Instead of the square back the pattern calls for, I made the double star from http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/star-of-the-count.... All I have to do is one or two more rounds, stitch the two pieces together and make a bottom border to put the lace through.
10-13: So far this pattern reads so strangely I keep feeling like I am reading a version for a different country. The pin tuck directions read strangely, it might just be me though.
11-20: Remember how I said the pattern read strangely? Yep, I messed up. The last time I had a chart it only charted out every other line. Silly me, I was operating the same way and that was wrong. Very, very wrong. So it looks like I’ll be ripping out 12 rows after the pin tuck. If I had done this right I’d be half way done, but no. I have to start over.
