Technically it’s finished. What I really need to do though, is unravel one end and extend it so that it’ll be as long as I want it. For now I’m done with it. I’m just sick of fiddling with it and want to finish some other projects for a while.
2-23-12: I got this “brilliant” idea that all I needed to do was work off the starting end using the same pattern to add the length I needed. Wow. Was I wrong, it is extremely difficult to make this look right. For anyone else making this, you should measure yourself, from your hair line, across the back of your head and to the base of your neck/upper back-about where your spine starts making little visible bumps. That will give you an idea of how long you need to make this thing. The narrow end only has about 1/2 inch worth of trim, I’m assuming the widest end (the starting side) will have something similar.
12-19-11: Bloody hell! It’s too short! Now what do I do, I’ve already finished the first bind off!?
12-18-11: I took a bit of a hyatious with my craft projects, but decided that I was ready for another go. Upon further inspection I realized that the T3 portion was using cabling techniques, which explains my confusion, as I’ve never done cabling. I’ve consulted my “how to” book and read over it’s cabling instructions and then looked again, and if I’m looking at it right, it’s just a big twist. In any case, if I do it all the same way it’ll look intentional. I can’t wait to be done with this.
12-9-11: I’m close to the end now and I really, really wish I’d read all the “helpful” projects and found out I should leave around 8 yards or more of yarn at the beginning of the project. Since my yarn color changes I’m going to have the silliest BO on that beginning edge. I’ll be ending with yarn that’s slightly gray where as I started with very white. sigh Plus what the FRAK is up with the 3T crap??? Just reading it makes me confused. I hope it makes more sense when I just try to go step by step on what the directions say.
11-7-11: I gave up on using the handly little loops for stitch makers, they always make big gaps in my knitting. I went back to my tried and true method of clipping scrap yarn into 2 inch segments and using that to mark in between pattern repeats. Adding the beads is so much fun, I’m always disappointed when I come to a fun round and I don’t get to add beads in.
11-4-2011: I just learned that I could upload a picture straight from my iphone onto Ravelry. That’s so neat! Granted I managed to put it in upside down, but still neat!
