Like a big pile of cozy leaves, I’m ready for some tea! The yarn choice will even hide any staining that might occur from my drippy tea pots. :)
I bought this camo yarn ages ago thinking I’d make some little pants for my son. As it turns out, my husband really doesn’t like camo so out of respect I never made them. There are few things my husband doesn’t like, sunflowers and camo are on that short list.
Anyhoo, I’ve had it in my mind to make this pattern and it occurred to me that the camo yarn would be great for it. I’m glad I finally got around to it.
It took me a while to get the pattern right, I hate it when I do things backwards. The first time I tried to do the leaves I didn’t really get what the pattern was saying. They came out really wonky, so I sat there looking at it, figured out what I should have done and then reread the pattern only to find that it really did say what I’d just figured out. head desk
Since all my tea pots have top handles I constructed the two pieces a little differently. I make the draw string much shorter and made a leaf (inspired, but not exactly like "A Maiden's Glory" from the Anticraft and just tied it on with a good solid knot. I sewed up the top 5 rows on both sides of the squares leaving the bottoms loose on both sides. Then I can feed it through the handle. Then I made bobbles for both bottoms. I tried to make them really chunky and they fit in the gaps between the leaf rows of the adjacent sides. It works beautifully!
