FINALIST, BABY!
I knit this for the 2023 Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest Art Contest. It’s a doll of my Warrior of Light, wearing the Valentione Rose Attire set.
It took me well over 30 hours, partially because I neglected to double-check the attire in game and split the colors in the skirt incorrectly at first. I figured it out when I got to the waist, d’oh. Ripped back and started again.
Next, I knit a doll following my Heartilly Doll pattern, with Human ears (my WoL is a midlander Hyur, after all).
The tights were next. I tried it at first with just regular stranding, but I suck at stranded knitting so they came out puckered. I was not happy at all and didn’t think they’d fit the doll, so I started over, this time doing the new-to-me Jacquard Ladderback method. MUCH BETTER!
Shoes were last, and I also did these twice because my first attempt didn’t look great. This is the problem when you make up the pattern yourself - you have a lot of trial and error. But I had great fun, and I am OVER THE MOON at being a finalist!
Here’s the partial soundtrack… after a while I lost track of what I was listening to, so I’m unsure just how long it took but it was at LEAST 30 hours.
