Notes

Pattern calls for bulky yarn and an H hook. At its widest, the pattern has 84 single crochets in a round, which to me sounds an awful lot for bulky, so I’m using worsted and an F hook (i crochet loosely).

My diameter was 4” at round 8 and 6.25” at round 12. I decided to stop the increases there, as that would give me a hat of ~19” circumference and I like my hats to fit closely.

I thought the brim pattern would work on 72 stitches. It didn’t - i had to fudge to make it work. Otherwise I followed the brim pattern as stated, though I left off the last round as it was getting big enough to flop in front of my eyes as it was.

Description of how event theme is met: The desert gets a lot of sun, so a sun hat would come in handy. I crocheted one using cotton yarn.

Team shout out for Nerd Cred: My hat is the same color as a chocobo!
