It felt like the finishing took as long as crocheting the motifs… sooo many ends to weave in…

The pattern calls for sewing motifs together, but I’ve done that before with another blanket and they came undone, so I opted to instead crochet the motifs together, using slip stitch and right side facing together. This put the lump of the seam on the back.

The pattern calls for a simple slip stitch border, but I saw others did the candy cane border and I really liked it, so I did it, too. I was afraid I wouldn’t have enough yarn for the border - I had about three skeins of each color left - but it only used about half a skein each. Much less than I was expecting!

I’m really pleased with how this turned out, HOWEVER do be careful when seaming. I worked the seaming with the back facing me, and didn’t realize that I had snagged the yarn twice on the front. One was bad enough that I had to cut it and weave in the ends, but since I had snagged part of a stitch, the stitch came loose. I repaired it as best as I could and I’m hoping it holds since this will be a display blanket, not a “for use” blanket.
