The squares are an easy (although a bit of counting is involved, especially in the first rows) and portable project.

I used some leftovers in my stash. But as I needed lots of colours, I bought quite a few new balls - the blanket was my “go-to excuse” while yarn shopping (“oh, look! What a pretty colour. I REALLY NEED this colour for my blanket”)

One square is about 11 x 11 cm.
I used about 6 g of yarn for the inside squares and another 5 to 6 g of the ecru yarn for the two border rounds.

Each square was hand washed (and blocked) to test for colour fastness before joining.

I joined the squares (192!) with a simple slip stitch (with a larger hook - I used a hook size 3 for the squares, but a hook size 4 for joining them). The joining took much longer than I expected.

I added two final border rounds in the ecru yarn around the whole blanket once all squares were joined.

I am absolutely in love with my blanket: I finished it this morning and took a lot of pictures, but they do not really do it justice. The blanket is much more beautiful in real life (if I am allowed to say so!). I am over the moon with it!
