I wanted to make this shawl very badly, but I didn’t have any use for it, so I decided to make it as a gift for my mother. I used three different colorways of Fame Trend yarn, that I still had in my stash.
I was really apprehensive at first about how it would look, but the end result is just stunning! I love the vibrant colors.
The yarn itself, though, is not very nice to crochet with. It’s very hairy and course. I soaked it in Eucalan, so I hope it will be softer when it’s dry.
It’s also a nightmare to frog, so beware! I had to frog twelve rows and more than half was unusable, because it kept breaking.
As far as size goes: I could’ve done with a hooksize (or two) smaller. This shawl has become huge! I think it also has to do with my gauge, I’m a loose crocheter.
I did two repeats for the central leaves and then went on until the end of row 55 (that’s when I didn’t have any yarn left). I could’ve easily done one central leaf repeat and then skip to the next rows.
I enjoyed crocheting this immensely! It’s a pattern to keep you concentrated, but the repeats aren’t difficult and after a few leafs you don’t need the charts. Thank god for the charts by the way! I could not have done this without them. I don’t like crocheting lace from a written pattern.
