• cast on 4 extra sts for neckline, skip first set of short rows. work one less incr for shoulder.
• work sleeve incrs for L
• work 2 extra raglan incr round (6 total)
• use yo k yo for raglan incrs and ktbl on next row.
• cast on 8 sts at underarm = 62 st sleeve, X st body
• six rpts of pattern 1
• six rpts of patttern 2
• start back ribbing after three rpts of pattern 2, decr 10 sts across on p sts
• work sleeves cuff up - 32st cuff, 24 rows 1x1 ribbing
• k10, yo, k2tog, M1R; work reverse over last 12 sts
• 15 decorative incrs
• then 50 rounds in length

Oh dear take 3
29 mar - sleeve 2 grafted. Wove in lots of ends, just the ends from the tubular cast off to go. Then a wash and block.
20 mar - sleeve 2 done. Will block before grafting!
19 mar - sleeve 2 cuff ribbing done
18 mar - hem ribbing grafted, twice over. You really need to do it loosely then adjust, not tightly then adjust. Also grafted right sleeve on, successfully.
17 mar - 9 rows ribbing, then slip purls for a row, then slip knits for a row. Put on two separate needles so ready to graft.
16 mar - pattern 2 finished
15 mar - picked up sts and worked 5 rounds on each armscye. worked pattern 2 rpt x 2.
14 mar - finished sixth rpt of pattern 1. Soaked and drying now. Body is now 36cm long. Aiming for 58(ish). Less 3cm for ribbing, still need 19cm. Pattern 1 is 5cm in length, pattern 2 will be 2.5cm.
13 mar - point where I joined in yarn after previous frogging showed marked colour difference. Weird bc I’m pretty sure that it was the leftover of the same skein with which I had been working. Then I joined in the frogged and soaked yarn. No evident colour difference between leftovers and that. So, frogged back again, rewound frogged and soaked yarn so that would start knitting with the other end and trying again.
Aaand, it seems to be working. Am changing to doing size L of sleeve incrs and then 6 raglan incrs. This will give a bit more measurement to body too. Also working raglan incrs as yo k yo and knitting tbl on next row. Keeps fabric tension smoother. Also there was a spot where I had missed an incr and picked it up a couple of rows later and was trying to convince myself that the right spot that it created was ok. It wasn’t and it’s frogged and gone now!
Two steps back today and three forward. Have split for sleeves and completed 5 pattern 1 rpts.

Take 2
12 mar - have knitted 50 rows on sleeve. Also a few more rounds on body.
11 mar - bottom, ran out of current yarn halfway through final raglan incr row. Need to hank and soak frogged yarn from yesterday. Done!! Cast on for a sleeve - I think I’ll knit them from the bottom up and graft at some point. Tubular cast-on on 4.5mm needle, 8cm of 1x1 rib. Decorative increases - k 10, yo, k2tog, M1R, work to 12 sts before end of row, work reverse. Also rejoined in frogged and soaked yarn on body. Completed raglan incrs, divided for sleeves at exactly 4 rpts of pattern 1.
10 mar 21 - ripped back to end of sleeve incrs. Worked an extra sleeve incrs as per XL size. Completed 2 raglan incr rounds. Will work three more raglan incr rounds.

10 mar - Have confused myself I think. Or pattern is wrong. Pattern 1 - worked 5 1/2 rds? So that there are 5 diamonds in each column. That matches photo. am concerned that it won’t be long enough.
Tried it on - too small. Shoulders a good fit. Neck is snug but wearing a shirt collar might be fine. Need to up to stitch count for next size for body (and sleeves?). Sleeves need 7cm more length before ribbing. Body needs to be considerably longer too.
9 mar - 45 rows done on left sleeve. decorative sleeve shaping complete. Changed to 4.5mm needle for ribbing. Orange marker at centre front - back length from bottom of ribbing is 42cm.
8 mar - 45 rows done on right sleeve. decorative sleeve shaping complete. Changed to 4.5mm needle for 1x1 wrist ribbing.
9 dec - 15.5cm done on left sleeve. Picked up for right sleeve. Fabric seems v difft - is that bc I soaked these two skeins?? Might wind new fresh ones, just in case!
7 dec - picked up sts for sleeve. Picked up 6 across the six cast on sts instead of four as pattern directs. Also picked up 2 extra at join either side and resolved with ssk k2tog on next round. Now work even for 17cm.
5 dec - tried it on w shirt. Happy. Finished third rpt of pattern 2. Started ribbing at back w rpt 4.
25 nov - finished second pattern 2 rpt. test wash/block - currently drying.
24 nov - separated for sleeves and body
22 nov - third raglan incrs done. almost ready to split for sleeves and body. one ball ksh op. first ball of circus tonic almost used up.
21 nov - have worked 8th, 5 to go.
20 nov - have worked the 5th of the 13 alternate row decr pairs (row 7 of pattern 1 chart)
19 nov - mucked up the short rows a few times yesterday but finally got them done. Have worked 6 rows of pattern 1. Think I may have missed two short rows (seems to be 11 sts bw them at front rather than 7…) oh well.
17 nov - finally got the 70 st long-tail tubular cast on right

21 oct 20 - moving to sleeve cap increases every other row. Increase row is knit all round. On non-incrs row, work pattern 1.
10 oct 20 - using circus tonic and ksh. long tail tubular cast on (qua purl soho) on 4mm needle. Join to work in the round. Work two set up rows then switch to 4.5mm needle for 1x1 ribbing, 4cm deep. Change to 5mm needle to knit one round. Finished short rows and saddle shoulder incrs. Did 17. Need to wash and block. Yay, it’s drying. I was a bit anxious about the neckline but even that appears to have loosened up a lot with a wash.

2 jul 2020 - 2 strands alpaca 2 and 1 of ksh was 17sts on 5.5mm needle.
