Robin and I are collaborating long distance on this welcome blanket to try to get one done before the deadline. Here is a link to her project page:

The original plan was to knit our squares half white and the other half whatever colors we have on hand. Later we decided that Robin was going to do hers half a darker shade of one color and the other half a lighter shade of same color. The sketch is Robin’s vision. We are going to have a Seaming Summit the weekend of Aug 26-27 so we can mail it off in time.
I am using kfb to make my increases instead of the backwards loop cast-on the pattern calls for. That was slowing me down, so I switched to a kfb in the first stitch. It looks fine and moves along faster for me.
8/16/17 update: since we have so many colors in our stash but some not enough to do half of 2 squares we are just going to go wild and do whatever looks pretty with the remaining squares!
8/27/17 I went to Robin’s house for the weekend and we had fun finalizing the layout, sewing the squares together and photographing the blanket. We wrote our immigration stories and words of welcome over breakfast, so it is ready to mail. I loved making this blanket with my friend.
