Pattern VERY WELL written. My version is Southwest; bright crayon colors on a mocha background :-) It’s super easy to experiment with this pattern. Experiment with color, and basic construction. Border edging that is picked-up and sewn on is nicely dimensioned and crying out for textured patterns.

Made the decision to miter the corners rather than just go around. Put two markers at each corner with one st inside that I knit in every round..

To make the edging, the pattern as written has you inserting your Contrast Color on a purl row. So then you get “caterpillar feet” on either side. Not my favorite way of striping, so after 8 rows (P-K, P-K, P-K, P-K) I inserted my contrast as a K row--which leaves no little feet or dots on neighbor rows. Next row P. Back to main as a K. Adding a P row. Then casting off using a K1, P1 stitch that creates a modified moss edge and is very stretchy.The edging gave me a lot of control over final sizing, which I was able to match edge to edge and side to side. Yay.
