Notes

Used String Theory Yarn’s wonderful Merino DK in Earthquake. I am very happy with the weight of this yarn. It is a bit thinner than some DK weights and adds just the right amount of weight to this shawl. This is the second shawl in the Craftsy class, Mastering Lace Shawls, by Laura Nelkin. Laura suggested I go up a needle size, even though I was on gauge with the size 6. Couldn’t be happier with the results. This yarn is so beautiful. It has such rich, jewel-tones. The picture does not do it justice. It blocked really well and dried very fast.
The pictures were all taken in natural morning light, which emphasizes the jewel tones. The second skein, even though it was the same lot number, had a slightly darker hint to it. Therefore, I used it for the border. Because of the slightly darker shade and the tighter stitch pattern of the border, it really emphasizes it. The pictures, however, make the variance in color appear much more pronounced that it actually is. It is really a subtle change. I love how it turned out. Blocked shawl finished at 52” x 25
