Notes

Purchased two hanks of yarn from my LYS and was told to hand wind it due to the delicate nature of the yarn. I do not own a swift and was searching the internet for ideas on how to make one myself. I saw the tinker toy model and showed my son. He said he would make me one out of his old LEGO’s. About 30 minutes later, he came up with this. It is extremely sturdy and works great. It spins so smoothly, without the slightest wobble! It also adjusts so the tension can be perfect. By adding a few more LEGO’s onto each “claw”, you can hold larger hanks or bulky yarns. You can completely customize to your needs. We then saw another LEGO swift online, but I think the one my son came up with is much, much sturdier. I think he even had fun doing it. :)

UPDATE: I have used this swift so many times and it works like a dream. I recently received a ball winder and the two work beautifully together. So happy!
