My first attempt at entrelac. The instructions on this pattern are written well, however, I am a visual learner. Sooooo, after a few times of frogging the first couple of sections, I went to a few YouTube videos and then went back to the pattern. My favorite is Stacy’s Very Pink Knits entrelac video. Helped tremendously for me.
I have had this pattern in my favorites since it came out and finally decided to quit procrastinating and learn this technique. The headband is so very cute and it looks lovely on the designers. (Great job, ladies.)
It took awhile before the pattern “clicked” for me. If you read the instructions carefully, it makes sense. (I even drew the construction on paper so it would sink in.) This is why I rated the pattern as medium difficulty. However, once you get the hang of entrelac, it is easy, so don’t let my rating deter you from giving it a go.
I ran out of yarn and since we were in the area, stopped by our Gatlinburg LYS (The Smokey MountainSpinnery). It was their first day open after the November 28, 2016 wild fires which destroyed our home and the LYS’s yarn stock. (The LYS and their beloved tree were spared.) It was great seeing their improvements. They didn’t have the moss colorway I needed but I found a variegated colorway that would blend. It took three rows of the new colorway. Added a picture of the LYS’s elf home, which is right outside the front door of the store. As you will see in the background, homes across the street and kitty corner were destroyed. They were just a few feet away from the store. You can also see the truck removing debris. It is all so sad.
After completing the wrap, I feel this is a bit on the wide side, so I will cast on another one using 20 CO stitches, then doing a 5 row rectangle. Might end up frogging it and reknitting it using this revision. We will see how the second one comes out.
Update: Dec 28, 2019 - Wore this headband to my salon appointment. My hairdresser liked it so much, I gave it to her. It looks great on her!
