On vacation in the mountains and snowed in. Great time to knit. Completed the Hippo. Will make a dress when I return home since I want to use contrasting yarn. These animals are so cute. Very easy to alter the pattern to make a different animal. Let your imagination run wild.

Decided this was a girl hippo and needed a frilly dress. Improvised the ruffle by two rows of double increases. I chose not to put a mouth on her as I think she is much more cute this way.

First picture is more true to the correct color. The dress is khaki rather than gray.

Gave to Thea as a present for her becoming a new big sister. She squealed with delight at the wrapped gift and cried, I love it! Then she opened the present and tossed the hippo in the air, picked it up and carried it around the entire evening. I think she liked it…..
