Started this pair of mittens right after the course of the Dutch Knitters to practice the braided cast on and the nice and decorative cords. Love this work. First mitten almost done.
The Kauni yarn is fine but I have to grow accustomed to the other wool (can’t find it in the database 100% Vill Oü Rewool goat & sheep 6/2 - found!).

Some explanatorial notes on my title:
The western carrot emerged in the Netherlands in the 17th century, from Iran with violet colour, its orange colour making it popular in those countries as an emblem of the House of Orange and the struggle for Dutch independence.

18/12/11: first mitten ready (without thumb)

11/08/12 Yes, finally started again… no way that I will finish these in time for the end of the Games, but why not give it a try.

13/8/2012: the games are over, but I managed to get a fair part ready of this second mitten. It might even succeed this last vacation week, and that is as fine for me as during the games. No medals, but my own pride.
18/8/2012: second mitten ready.

19/8/2012: hottest day since whenever, but they are finished.

There are mistakes and things to learn:

1. Practice to get the stitches neatly done at the changing of the needles, not to tight, not to loose
2. You know how to pick up stitches!
3. There is a left AND a right thumb
4. Get the tension evenly.
