This is my first project. I originally intended to make a fairly plain wrist warmer, but it came out like this.
My wrist is 5.5 inches around at the smallest point, and I wanted to end it around where my arm is roughly 6.5 inches. So I started with a row of 25 stitches and intended to finish with about 30 stitches at the larger end. However, I am making some kind of newbie mistake, so somehow added a stitch or so in each row, so the final row is around 8 inches long (around 40 stitches).
This resulted in a flared cuff-like design, so I stitched a decorative button onto the finished project with some leftover yarn and a large sewing needle. I ran the yarn through both layers of the wrist warmer to help get the actual size down a bit.
To keep it in place, I added a strand of yarn to go over the back of my hand and under my middle finger, so it won’t migrate up my arm. At some point, I accidentally purled a row when I meant to knit, so I decided to do it again later as a stripped design.
Five rows knit, one row purl, 10 rows knit, one row purl, five rows knit, one row bind off.
