Notes

SO WHY DID I EVEN DO IT THEN? Read THIS.

Bear in mind that I made this more complicated than how it was written.

This is a project you do just to prove that you can. I wouldn’t say I enjoy it, but I like knowing that I can handle the challenge. Would I do this again? I’d rather have eye surgery again, without the sedative.

Finished.
I pushed through, in spite of the soul-sucking, mojo-crushing, tortuous misery that had me appreciating the appeal of the sweet release of death.

For CO, use needle at least 2 sizes smaller.

The designer wanted entrelac that looked good on both sides. To me, this seems irrelevant for a hat.
Also, why make a reversible hat that looks the same on both sides?
Make something distinctly different for each side.

I’m doing just a little simple colourwork on one side. No more than 2 sts per row though. I’m adding the Kid Seta to the other side.
in hindsight, this adds to the weight and increases complexity.

Why do I do this to myself?

It’s not easy to get just the right size band with just the right amount of ease.

It might be easier to thread several rounds of narrow elastic between the layers to make the band tighter.

I will have to do that because this hat is already so heavy, it slides down over my eyes.

Despite the insanely high number of hours that have gone into this, I am contemplating unraveling this hat once it’s done.

I CO size medium with 2.75mm circular needle. CO tightly. Pull up any slack.
Knit tightly.
Do stranded “circles” on one side only of hat band.

For entrelac section, go up in needle size. It’s a beret, not a beanie.

Entrelac Decrease Round 1: row 1 of each diamond: Pick up 8 sts as in previous rounds. Work 3 paired stitches; rearrange next 2 pairs from KPKP to KKPP; k2tog; SSPtbl; work 2 pr sts; work linked left-slanting decrease; turn and proceed as written.

FROGGED 4 February 2025. I thought unraveling this might be distressing but I feel happy and peaceful! Every time I looked at this hat I recalled the misery and disappointment. Now I have a chance to reuse these yarns to make some thing[s] that bring joy.
