This pattern is in an old book that was my mom’s! She made 2 pairs for us as kids.

The pattern, as written, is for knitting flat. This means sewing seams. Seam the hand, the thumb and pinky finger.
It would be so much easier to knit these in the round! All knitting and no purling. No more seams. I knit the right mitt (the boy) flat, and the left mitt (the girl) in the round. I still knit the head flat using intarsia. This part was not fun to sew because of the fluffy Hygge yarn

I will make this one pair, then see who it fits.

I forgot how much I dislike working with Hygge yarn. I’d rather make bald puppets … or a hat! … hey yeah!

I used the “hair” colour yarn to knit the back of the head and a fleshy colour for the face, in intarsia. Saves time later.

It helps to have a tracing of the hand it needs to fit.

A center back ponytail or braid could be an option.
