Trying out a pattern for a shawl that is not a triangle. Almost all of them are triangles, and I don’t like the way it wraps around your shoulders. Hopefully this one will be more comfortable.
Notes about the pattern.
- A FPDC is called a BPDC once your work is turned.
- Row 2: DC 2, ch 1, DC 2 in next st means that the whole thing is done in the next stitch, not that the first DC2 is in the next stitch, then ch 1, then in the next stitch another DC2.
- Row 4: the last BPDC is missing.

The description of Row 7 is not very clear, and I think incorrect. When you have 4 dc’s in a row, you are asked to do a DC in the 2nd and then in between the next 2 DC’s, that means to me in between 3 and 4. But looking at the figure, it should be in between DC 2 and 3, so that it is in the middle of that cluster.
At the end, you get a similar structure and there it isn’t even mentioned that it should be in the space between 2 DC’s, but everything has been symmetrical so far, so I’m going to do that anyway.

End of Row 7 should be chain 2.

The number of DC’s without the anchor stitch and without the peak stitch in the even rows is (row nr. - 5).
At Row 13, I decided that I don’t like the openness in the ripple area, so instead of doing dc-ch, I’m filling it up with dc-dc, except for the one in the center for ease of finding the stitch to attach the ch5 to.

Finished the first skein yesterday evening. Working on row 47, width is about 62 cm. Which is not nearly large enough to cover an adult, it reaches to about the shoulders, and I’d like it to cover at least my upper arms.

I want to know how much will is going into a row. I just finished row 56:
Weight of 2nd skein of yarn: 94.4 g
Weight of shawl: 296.3 g
30-5-2023
Weight of 2nd skein of yarn: 82.8 g
Weight of shawl: 308.4 g
At end of row 57
11.6 / 12.1 g used.
05-06-2023
Weight of 2nd skein of yarn: 72.5 g
Weight of shawl: 320.3 g
At end of row 58

Finished second skein. This is a good in between project, for when you don’t want to think. Pattern is automatic by now.
