This is the fourth woolly hat I’m making with this pattern. I quite like it!
This one is for my sister. I made a practice version for myself with the same yarn, but a different colour. I used a 6.5 mm hook for myself, and a 6 mm hook for my sister. The first 8 rows (the finished star pattern) had a diameter of 15.5 cm. It seems to be a little less than 10 grams

Nearing the end. Unfortunately, the most colour is at the end of the skein, and I hope I can use as much as possible of that. I already weighed my practice hat and removed as much of the cream-coloured yarn as I dared. But I’m making this with a half mm smaller hook, so it’s difficult to estimate, and the colour really comes quite far down…
I made 10 rows of wobbles, and it weighs 46.8 grams. I still have to add one row off wobbles and the brim.
11 rows of wobbles is 50.2 grams. So 3.4 grams for the 2 rows that make up the wobbles.

I finished the number of rows of the pattern, although I’m thinking about adding 1 or 2 more to the rim, in the hopes of catching a little bit of the darker pink at the end of the yarn. I added 3 stitches in row 5 of the rim by putting a double sc in the middle of the rim (stitch 23) and 5 stitches to either side (stitch 18 and stitch 28). Then in the 6th row, I did double sc’s on either side of each of the double stitches in row 5, adding another 6 stitches. This makes the rim stand up a lot easier, so I think it’s a definite improvement.
The hat now weighs 60.2 g (with 2 extra rows on the rim). I have about 6 grams of pinkish yarn left. So I could have had one more coloured wobble…
The buttons came from my mother’s button stash, which she gave to me. I like the idea, reusing some of my mom’s old buttons.
