I am a real “Berliner”, I was born and grew up in the City of Berlin (West) and remember those days when Berlin was surrounded by The Wall very well. I still live in Berlin with my husband, son and daughter. At the age of seven I learned how to crochet from my grandma and how to knit from my mum just a few years later – and never stopped knitting since then. During my years as a student I started making money with my hobby, knitting samples for yarn Stores and Designers.
In 2007 I became a Ravelry member - and my knitting life changed completely.
In 2010/11 I added my first four knitting patterns to Ravelry, just for fun … now there more than sixty patterns … mostly huge shawls or cowls - and yes, I LOVE stranded colourwork …
I am very happy I am a 24/7 yarn now => after starting “Yarn over Berlin” as an online shop together with my “partner in crime” Merliane in the beginning of 2012 we opened our brick & mortar in February 2018 in the heart of Berlin.
Just a few months later the indie dyer “Frida Fuchs” was offered to us. Being surrounded by yarn 24/7 obviously boosts my creativity ;-)
