Barbara Hurd
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Wishing you joy and peace today and always.
Thank you so very much for your kind donations. ❤️❤️❤️
I’m offering FREE patterns, hoping that those that can will donate to one of my favorite causes. (Easy, direct links below)
I’m an indie knitwear designer that fell in love with design at a young age. My parents sent me to NYC after high school to cool a budding relationship and coax me to go to Parsons School of Design. I got a sublet by Columbia U, working papers (I was underage), and a job at Macy’s. I was immersed in fashion, celebrities, and freedom. (It was The Godfather era, and yes, I lived near Al Pacino and have a great story to tell… another time). I got into a lot of trouble, usually not my doing, but got out of it, too. (What were my parents thinking??) It was my coming of age summer. All the while I was handsewing new designs, many of which have resurfaced decades later.
Knitting came years later when I worked opposite shifts from my husband at a very taxing job in Miami. I took a knitting class in the evening at a local school taught by a wonderful Cuban woman who had learned to knit at age 2. I met one of my best life friends there, also.
And the story goes on….
(Yes, the relationship cooled. No, although I would have loved Parsons, I had other dreams.)
I design for donations to help prevent suicide among our veterans and for the Salvation Army, two groups that I truly admire. I hope you will join me in that effort.
Please donate if you are able to:
Veteran/military suicide prevention at
https://virginiaveteransservicesfoundation.org
The Salvation Army, Charlottesville:
https://give.virginiasalvationarmy.org/give/302279/#!/don...
or The Salvation Army at
https://give.salvationarmyusa.org/give/164006/#1/donation
The Salvation Army also accepts gently used clothes, toys, household goods, etc. and are a non-profit (whereas others are for profit). I truly appreciate each and every donation.❤️❤️❤️
I hope you feel the satisfaction and joy of charity.
I’ll still add new patterns (and free up old ones, many of which aren’t on here) but I’m also off on new endeavors…funny, but I think bigger as I get older…
anything’s possible;)
Thank you,
Barbara
