I am the owner of oftroy’s Golden Apples, a web page that is mostly about knitting. It features several tutorials, that are frequently updated Notably the Cast On Tutorial, that has grown to include over 60 cast on methods, most with video demo’s, and an ever growing collections both Bind Offs, and Selvages.

I have been a needle artist all my life. I knit, sew, crochet, and do both needlepoint and embroidery.

My preferred style of knitting is Combination, but I also knit standard continental and Eastern, true reverse style and Portuguese. There is nothing I haven’t tried and mastered in knitting. My preference run to color work,lace, double knitting and leaf motifs—I occasionally will knit cables, but rarely entralac. I love technical and mathematical knitting, too.

I have lived all my life in NYC, and think I always will.
