Have made two other cat / kitten patterns by this designer. Her designs are truly remarkable. I’m getting the hang of them!

I can’t seem to be able to understuff in the specific areas, so, I don’t worry about it.

I was denied access to the designer’s video on that, altho, I don’t think that’d have made a difference.

WS (purl side) facing you, with yarn CD pick up and knit 16 sts purlwise across…

Rather:
…pick up and purl 16 sts across…

Conquer the Short Row:
For fine shaping, the kitten designs use short rows thru out. They are nothing to be concerned about. In garments, I’ve always used Japanese short rows, but one needs locking markers for those, which is impractical for these designs.
The designer uses wrap and turn short rows, which are explained in her pattern. One becomes adept at them straight away. The pattern doesn’t explain how to close up the wrap, but there’s online videos for that, if needed.
