Welcome to Marie-Elyse Dugal Designs!

I am a French Canadian designer who began designing free patterns in order to share my love of knitting with others. While some of my patterns now have a price listed, those have coupons in the pattern description allowing knitters who need or wish to, to get them at half price or for free. It’s important to me that they be available to everyone!

When I began knitting, I looked for patterns that were beginner friendly, but also that would allow me to evolve, try new stitches, and grow in confidence. I was immensely grateful to great designers who occasionally made some free patterns available to all. It was reassuring to know they would be thoughtfully written, with knitters of all levels in mind, and most times had also been tested. I felt it gave me confidence to trust the pattern and try to explore new things.

I now often purchase patterns from designers I love, but when I began knitting, I wanted to try the craft with some free patterns. It allowed me to explore and develop skills without pressure.

I hope my patterns will now allow you to do just that: to go a little beyond the simple and basic, to explore with confidence and try new things. Mostly, I hope they bring you as much joy as they do to me!
